Fender Service
We understand the importance of maintaining optimal performance and safety for your fenders. Our fender services are tailored for ship owners and shipyards that want to ensure the reliability of their Yokohama-type fenders.
What is a fender service?
A fender service is an essential maintenance activity for fenders. While a Yokohama-type fender is designed for long life with minimal maintenance, there are components that are still prone to wear, corrosion, and potential damage. Regular inspections, air filling, and, if necessary, servicing or component replacement are therefore necessary.
Why fender service is important?
How fender service is conducted:
Testing, calibration, and more for your safety
At regular service intervals, typically every 2-3 years, testing and calibration of the safety valve are performed according to the ISO 17357:2014 standard.
This involves deflating the fender, disassembling and testing the safety valve in a controlled environment. After calibration, the valve is reassembled and the fender is inflated with air.
If necessary, the air filling valve can also be replaced to ensure tightness and optimal function. Parts such as chains and tyres can also be replaced in cases of significant corrosion or damage.
The cost of fender service:
Tailored to your needs and the size of your fenders
The cost of fender service varies depending on the scope of work and the size of the fender. Smaller services like calibration of the safety valve can cost around 15,000 NOK, while larger service tasks and part replacement can reach up to 100,000 NOK per fender. For extensive service jobs, a cost-benefit assessment should be made compared to purchasing a new fender. It is recommended to clarify documentation requirements and the estimated timeframe in advance.
